綠色陶土分子篩-污染大剋星

現今日常生活充斥著有機污染物,然而處理含有有機污染物的廢水需要極高的成本,有鑑於此,我們參考Fenton Reaction,從成本、毒性、活化能、操作方便性、二次污染及經濟效益的多方考量下,選擇以分子篩來固定鐵、鈷、鎳、錳、鋅之金屬離子,並決定以鐵分子篩為研究主軸,並探討其催化過氧化氫對有機物的分解。鑒於粉末狀的分子篩容易流失,我們以陶土固定分子篩,製作成反應杯槽,發現了分子篩與陶土的結合性。接著藉由二氧化碳感測器及光譜儀來感測有機物的分解速率,在控制溫度,濃度等條件下,探討分解有機物的反應及其反應時的特性。由實驗結果得知,分子篩能有效分解簡單醇類、氯仿、四氯化碳及indigo。使用0.35克陶土鐵分子篩,1M 以下的雙氧水50ml,其分解異丙醇所生成二氧化碳的速率可達0.34-0.55ppm/sec 之間(3.1-4.9×10-9mol/sec),此外有機氯化物分解後生成無毒性的氯離子;indigo染料分解後褪色。本實驗證實,陶土鐵分子篩:一、可以重複使用;二、可在較低濃度環境下運作;三、在酸性較弱環境下運作;四、可在低溫環境下運作(10℃);五、不須對大量鐵離子做沉澱回收的工作(此五點優於Fenton Reaction)。相較於TAML 等人工合成的催化劑雖有避免污染的優點,但卻有無法重複使用的缺點,綜合以上幾點看來,陶土鐵分子篩在操作方便性及經濟與環境保護上具有相當的潛力及價值。With organic pollutants everywhere and the high cost to dispose of them, this study, a two-stage experiment, aimed first to evaluate the efficiency of zeolite with different metal ions and then to compare their rates in reacting to the decomposition of organic matter with hydrogen peroxide as the catalyst. Since zeolite powder can be easily washed away, we tested zeolite with clay to hold such metal ions as Fe, Co, Ni, Mn, and Zn and finally used the Argillaceous Fe-zeolite for its superiority on the basis of cost, toxin, activation energy, easy operation, and contamination. A carbon dioxide sensor and a spectrometer for visible light were used to measure the decomposition rate of organic matter under controlled temperature and resolution concentrations. The results of the experiments showed that zeolite achieved excellent effects in decomposing organic chlorides such as lower alcohols, chloroform, and carbon tetrachloride. When 0.35g of zeolite and less than 1M of hydrogen peroxide resolution were used the rate of carbon dioxide production reached 0.34-0.35 ppm/sec (3.1-4.9x10-9 mol/sec). The decomposition of organic chloride produced nontoxic Cl and the indigo dye faded after it was decomposed. Our experiments proved that Argillaceous Fe-zeolite has the following five advantages over Fenton Reaction. First, it can be reused. Second, it performed well at lower concentrations. Third, it worked well under weak acid conditions. Fourth, it worked at a lower temperature (20℃). And finally, there was no need to recycle a large amount of Fe ions. Argillaceous Fe-zeolite was also found to be superior to TAML, which has the advantage of avoiding contamination but is not reusable. The above observation and discussion demonstrate that Argillaceous Fe-zeolite possesses very significant value in terms of easy application, economy, and environmental protection.

停車就是彈硬幣

在這個科展中我們要研究兩個非常有趣的問題:\r 停車場問題 與 彈硬幣遊戲.\r 停車場問題是這樣的:在一條單行道上有n個車位,編號從1到n。現在有n個司機排成一排要進入停車。但是每個司機都有怪癖,各自有最想要停的位子。他們依序將車子開進單行道,如果想要停的位子是空的,當然停在這個位子。但是如果不巧那個位子已經被停了,不得已只好找下一個空位,姑且停之。但是如果往下找都沒有空位,由於是單行道,司機就只好開走不停了。\r 比如說,如果現在有五輛車,司機的喜好分別是(3,1,2,5,2)。則五輛車都可以順利停車。但是司機的喜好如果是(3,1,4,5,4),有些車就無法停車了。\r 彈硬幣遊戲是這樣的:考慮圓內接正n+1邊形,任意兩點都連線。這正n+1邊形中有一個頂點P是特殊的,每個頂點上一開始都放有一些硬幣(各點硬幣數可以不同)。如果P以外的某個頂點上的硬幣數n個,我們可以對這個頂點進行操作:一次操作是指將這個頂點上的硬幣各分一個給每個其他頂點。點P只在其他點都無法操作時操作。我們不理會頂點P上的錢數,因此這個遊戲可以無限地玩下去。

魔術猜牌-由再生訊息延伸推展猜中比值之研究

本研究是藉由數學手法探討;如何由一疊 36 張四種花色的撲克牌中,尋找出保證可猜中最多張花色的方法。研究過程是以在適當的猜牌時機,以邏輯推理、二進位、分析與歸納 … … 等數學原理與方法,搭配巧妙的策略運用而達到目的。 猜牌方法:先約定好猜牌規則,助手將 36 張牌背圖樣相同但非對稱的撲克牌,以旋轉牌背的方向傳達訊息。在本研究中得出「經由巧妙的猜牌方法保證可以猜中不少於 26 張花色」,並得出「當總張數趨近於無窮大時,保證可以猜中不少於 81 . 07 %的牌,並且證出若僅使用獨立的訊息猜牌,無論任何猜牌方法皆無法猜中多於 87 . 37 %的牌」 · 其中一個猜中多於 80 %的例子是‘「當總張數等於 23006 張時,保證可以猜中不少於 1 8405 張牌(18405/23006 > 4/5)」 ·The study is mathematically based with reasonable explanations behind it. We are to correctly guess as many cards as possible from a deck of 36 cards, with random numbers and four different suits. We will apply mathematical methods, such as logic inference, binary system, and analytical reduction, upon right timing. Using careful arrangement of the principles and reasoning, we can reach our ultimate goal. To state guessing: Conference between the guesser and the assistant about the guessing rules, the assistant will have 36 cards with the same exact pattern on the back but not symmetrical. The pattern of the cards will be different when rotated 180o. The only communication between the two is by rotating cards. In this study, we can prove that through mathematical method, we can assure 26 or more cards can be correctly guessed. Furthermore, when the total amount of cards is close to infinity, we can assure 81.07% or more of the cards can be correctly guessed, and prove that if the cards are guessed from independent information, no more than 87.37% of the cards will be correctly guessed by any guessing methods. One of the examples, which 80% of the cards are correctly guessed, is that when the amount of the cards is 23006, 18405 or more of the cards can be correctly guessed. (18405/23006 > 4/5)

灰階影像內容之檢索技術

資訊時代的來臨,促使我們的社會型態大幅改變,無一不朝數位化的方向邁進。網際網路與資訊科技的快速發展,近年來影像資料庫和數位圖書館大量的成立,關於影像資料檢索的研究已漸漸成為一門極為重要的研究議題。在本研究報告中,我們提出一種植基於向量量化編碼法的灰階影像檢索技術。向量量化編碼法是一種極為簡單的影像壓縮技術。我們應用這個編碼法,來萃取出灰階影像內容的特徵值。同時我們也計算出整張影像與影像中間位置的像素平均值,作為日後檢索影像時過濾掉影像資料庫中不需要比對特徵值的依據。\r 我們所提出的方法能有效地萃取影像內容的特徵值並且讓使用者可以快速且正確地查詢到所需要的影像。當影像資料庫中存在與查詢影像完全相同的影像時,我們的檢索技術都能在第一時間第一順位檢索出這張影像。即便影像資料庫中不存在與查詢影像完全相同的影像時,我們的檢索技術平均74.3%也能在第一時間前五個順位檢索出最相似的影像。\r \r With the coming of the information age, our sociological system change extensively, and everything has moves toward digitization. Due to the rapid development of Internet, information technology, the rapid growth of image databases and digital libraries recently, the related researches of image retrieval have become a very important issue. In this memoir, we propose an image retrieval scheme based on the vector quantization to retrieve similar images from the image database according to the pre-collected image features. Vector quantization is a very simple image compression scheme. We have applied vector quantization to extract features from grayscale image. In order to speed up the retrieval process, we also calculated the mean pixel values of whole images and the central part of the image to filter the images, which are significantly dissimilar to the query image.\r The experimental results show that our proposed approaches can effectively extract features from the image and enable users to retrieve images from image database quickly and accurately. When images stored in image database match query image, the proposed scheme can instantly retrieve the stored image at the first rank. Even though images stored in image database query image exactly, the proposed scheme can instantly retrieve the stored image over 74.3% at the first five ranks.

電解與磁場的秘密.

金屬離子在磁場中的流動速率會略有改變,尤其是在強磁場中時,其影響更是顯著,即 【MHD 磁流動效應】,造成整體電解液中離子的流動,此流動比擴散速率佔優勢。再利用「磁 矩」具有向量性質,探討不同金屬離子(Na+、K+、Fe3+、Al3+、Mg2+)及MnO4 -在磁場角度 相同但強度不同的情況下;及磁場角度不同但強度相同的情況下,對電解速率的影響。 經實驗發現有以下結論: 一、由法拉第電解第一定律出發,加以實驗數據分析,可推導出一關係式: 電解速率Rρ= k ×∫〈∣H 向量∣×∣cosθ∣〉×∣E 向量∣ (k 單位:g / C˙weber˙s) 二、電解效率隨價數增高而增快。 三、較強的電解質,其對磁場的感應也越大,如果就同一族而言,往 下其活性越強,對磁場的感應也越強。 The flowing rate of Metal ion changes slightly in magnetic field. This influence is especially remarkable while the magnetic force is very strong, that’s【MHD (magneto Hydrodynamic Effect ), which gives rise to ionic flowing all over the electrolyte. This flowing rate is superior to expanding rate. Further, basing on the magnetic torque ’s vector trait, this research studies how electrolysis velocity affects different metal ions (Na+、K+、Fe3+、Al3+、Mg2+) and MnO4 - under following situations: Some results are found through the experiment. 1. Begin with Farad Electrolysis First Law, and take the experimental analysis into account, then a relative formula comes out as bellow. Electrolysis Rate Rρ= k ×∫〈∣H∣×∣cosθ∣〉×∣E∣ (k:g / C˙weber˙s) 2. Electrolysis efficiency accelerates by the increasing price amount. 3. Active electrolytes get strong response to the magnetic field. For the same group, the more active the electrolytes are, the stronger it responds to magnetic filed.

磁性流体薄膜在水平磁場下結構型態之研究

本研究探討不同的控制變因,對磁性流體薄膜在水平磁場下有序結構的影響。我們發現,外加水平磁場於磁流體薄膜時,會形成一維有序磁鍊排列,磁鍊間距除會隨著磁場增強而變小外,另外其條件值如磁場強度、流體濃度、磁增率、薄膜寬度及厚度等也影響磁鍊間距。其中磁增率及磁流體濃度增加會使磁鍊間距變小,而凹槽寬度及薄膜厚度增加會使磁鍊間距變大等現象。至於其形成磁鍊的物理作用,我們假設薄膜有三種能量交互作用,即(1)磁鍊與外加磁場間的磁能UdH。(2)兩條同方向磁化的磁鍊間相互排斥所造成的磁能Udd。(3)熱能Uther等。藉由系統能量Udh+Udd+Uther最小化,我們導出了磁鍊間距和外加磁場之間理論上的關係,並比較實驗結果確實具有相當的一致性。因這些有序結構會引發許多的光學性質,將來這些特殊的光學性質預料應可製成可調式光柵、光開關及顯示器等光電元件,使磁流體在奈米世界及光電領域裡扮演重要角色。We investigate experimentally the structure of the magnetic chains formed in the magnetic fluid thin film under the influence of the external magnetic field parallel to the film surface. A one-dimensional ordered structure forced by magnetic chains can be obtain in the magnetic fluid film. It is worth noting that the ordered structure can be manipulated by changing the control parameters such as the magnetic field, concentration of magnetic fluid, the thickness of the film, the width of the film, and the dH/dt. On the other hand, the physical mechanism of forming the ordered structure can be also studied theoretically. These magnetic chains are regarded as magnetic dipoles and three possible interactions are condisered for the energy of the system: the attracting potential energy between the magnetic chain and H(denoted by UdH),the repulsive potential energy between two magnetic chains with parallel magnetizations(denoted by Udd), and the thermal energy Uther. The relationship between the chain distance △x and the applied magnetic field H was derived by minimizing the total energy of the system with respect to the chain distance. The experimental data is consistent with the theoretical results.

人面蜘蛛藉調整絲基因表現及網結構促進捕食效率

前人研究顯示結網性蜘蛛會因環境中獵物組成的改變而改變其網結構。然而,除了結構之外,構成網的絲的物理性質與蜘蛛網的捕捉效率也應有密切之關連,但目前並無人探討蜘蛛是否會因獵物而調整絲之化學及物理性質。在本研究中,我以人面蜘蛛為材料,探討:(一)其在面對不同類型之獵物時是否調整其網之結構,絲之胺基酸組成和其物理性質;(二)所產生之改變是否能促進不同類型獵物的捕食效率;以及(三)是獵物之養份或振動刺激引起這些改變。我藉著操控獵物的養份及振動刺激將人面蜘蛛分成四個處理組,分別餵以活蟋蟀(C 組),活蒼蠅(F 組),死蟋蟀加蒼蠅振動刺激(Cd 組)及死蒼蠅加蟋蟀振動刺激(Fd 組)。在完成食控處理後比較各組間之網結構、絲胺基酸組成、絲物理性質、對不同獵物之留置能力以及振動訊號傳遞能力。實驗結果顯示F 組之蜘蛛所結之網有較大的面積及較小的網目,並有較佳之蒼蠅留置力;然而此結構之改變卻會降低其振動訊號傳遞率。C 組之蜘蛛所結之網有較強之張力及較佳之蟋蟀留置力,而且其所產之曳絲有較高比例之alanine、glycine 及glutamine 並較佳之延伸度及韌度,以因應體型較大之獵物。上述結果顯示人面蜘蛛能調整網的結構、絲的蛋白質組成及物理性質來更有效率的捕捉不同類型的獵物。而由於上述各樣變數在C 及F 組間有顯著差異,而在獵物養份與振動訊號錯置的Cd 與Fd 組間無顯著差異,顯示此二項刺激需同時存在才能使人面蜘蛛在面對不同類型獵物時產生結網行為及絲基因表現之改變。Previous studies showed that orb-weaving spiders may adjust web structures when encountering different types of prey. In addition to web structures, silk physical properties should also be critical in affecting the prey catching efficiency of webs. However, so far no one has studied whether spiders adjust silk chemical and physical properties when encountering different types of prey. In this study, I used the giant wood spider Nephila pilipes to investigate (1) would N. pilipes adjust web structures, silk amino acid composition and silk physical properties when encountering different types of prey (2) would such changes enhance the catching efficiency of different prey and (3) were such changes generated by prey chemical composition or vibration signals? To answer these questions, I manipulated prey chemical composition and vibration signals by assigning N. pilipes into the following four feeding groups: (1) living crickets (group C), (2) living flies (group F), (3) dead cricket but with fly vibration signals (group Cd) and (4) dead flies but with cricket vibration signals (group Fd). After the feeding treatments were completed the following variables were compared between the feeding groups: web structures, silk amino acid composition, silk physical properties, retention time of different prey and vibration signal transmission rate of webs. The results showed that the webs built by spiders fed with living flies exhibited larger area, smaller mesh and longer fly retention time. However, such structural changes also reduced the vibration signal transmission ability of the web. On the other hand, webs built by spiders fed with living crickets were stiffer and retained crickets longer. Moreover, their silks exhibited higher percentages of alanine, glycine, glutamine and consequently higher elasticity and strength to cope with the larger prey. These results demonstrated that spiders can adjust web structures, silk protein composition and silk physical properties to enhance the catching efficiency of different prey. While the aforementioned variables differed significantly between spiders in C and F groups, they did not vary between spiders in Cd and Fd groups, in which groups the prey chemical composition and vibration signals were decoupled. Such result suggested that prey chemical composition and vibration signal were both needed in generating changes in web building behavior and silk gene expression in spiders.

讓視域更遼闊--在有限的螢幕空間上顯示更多的圖形式資訊

在利用電腦螢幕來瀏覽圖形式資訊的時候,常常受限於螢幕的空間,沒有辦法在顯示\r 資訊整體結構的同時顯現細節部分的資料,目前的使用者介面所採用的方法有放大(zoom\r in)、捲動(scrolling)、開啟多個視窗(multiple view)等方法,這些方法雖然可以呈現出資\r 料的細節部分,但是仍有其個別的缺點存在,放大的方式會有遮蔽的情形;捲動的方式無\r 法同時地呈現整體結構;開啟多個視窗的方法使得使用者的眼睛必須在這些視窗間來回的\r 移動,造成麻煩。\r 魚眼鏡頭是一種短焦距、大視角的相機鏡頭,鏡頭成像的時候,越接近鏡頭中心的物\r 體會越放大而越遠的部分會越縮小,藉著發掘魚眼鏡頭的成像函數,我們發展出了一種新\r 的使用者介面,在瀏覽圖形式資訊的時候,能夠顯示整體的結構,並隨著滑鼠游標的移動,\r 以不開啟新視窗及無遮蔽的方式,即時地將想要觀察的部分局部放大以展現細部的資料,\r 這種使用者介面將具備現有方法的優點而無其缺點。\r Browsing the global structure of a large graph in limited screen space has the drawback that details\r are often too small to be seen. The most common solution provides a scrollable view. This shows full\r details at the region currently visible through the view, but hides the rest of the global structure.\r Alternatively, zooming into a part of the graph does show local details but misses the overall structure of\r the graph. The multiple views approach, one view of the entire graph and the other of a zoomed portion,\r has the advantage of seeing both local details and overall structure, but has the drawback that parts of the\r graph adjacent to the enlarged area are not visible at all in the enlarged views.\r A fisheye camera lens is a very wide angle lens that magnifies nearby objects while shrinking distant\r objects. It seems to be a tool for seeing local detail and global structure simultaneously. By means of\r exploring fisheye camera lens, we develop a user interface for browsing graphs using program analog of\r fisheye lens. Thus, our method seems to have all the advantages of the other approaches without suffering\r from any of the drawbacks.\r \r

探討以最經濟的方式偵測低濃度溶液之金屬離子

A novel technology for detection of trace concentration of ions at ppb level was developed. The detection limit of this method can be reached to 1ppb. The Wheatstone bridge usually be used for determination the concentration of metal ion, the major disadvantage of this technique is the precision too low. Atom absorption spectroscopy is better for monitoring trace metal ion, but the cost of instrument is too expensive. In this study, the oscilloscope was used to modify the Wheatstone bridge Circuit. The difference between the voltages of two connection points of Wheatstone bridge was used to estimate the concentration of ions. The amplification system was used in this method to improve the limit to detect ion from 10 ppm to 10ppb. The parameters of measurement including types of probe, match of Wheatstone bridge resistances, parameters of input signal and electrolysis in solution were also being studied. 本研究主要是發展一個富有創新且經濟的ppb ( parts per billion ; 10-9)級,微濃度金屬離子量策技術,目前本實驗設計已可以達到 ppb的偵測極限,尤其本方法不僅能夠應用於定量,尚可做定性偵測。簡易的溶液濃度技術常使用惠司通電橋的方法,但這個方法的缺點在於精確度較低,而另外常用的儀器是原子吸收光譜儀,卻價格高昂。因此,我們回頭對惠司通電橋的技術作改良和創新技術。首先,最重要的新技術是對示波器的改良。示波器被用來量測惠司通電橋的電位,我們比較電橋上兩特定點的電位來判斷濃度,當兩個點的電位相同時代表溶液電阻和控制電阻相同。但當輸入信號的電壓太強時,示波器上並無法判別細微的電位變化,因此造成量測的精度不高。本組設計新的電路用以放大在高強度訊號的波形細微變化,成功將測量極限由 10 ppm推進到 ppb。另外關於此設計中的各種參數,包括探針類型、惠司通電路的電阻匹配、輸入訊號之強度頻率、電極間電容效應及溶液中可能發生的電解效應等,都有精確的探討。最後的設計結果將是創新且有別於以往的設計概念。

假如我是正常的?!—再探渦流脫離是否可能為聖嬰發生動力

聖嬰現象為全球的共同話題之一,由於其發生會影響全球性氣候的改變,使原本乾旱處下起傾盆大雨,原本潮濕氣候的地區成了乾旱地區,導致生命、財產嚴重性損失,這也是引發本研究想站在不同科學領域角度來探就聖嬰現象的發生的原因。目前科學家大都以大氣觀點來說明聖嬰的成因:太平洋上因風向改變引起海水流向或動能變化,導致太平洋赤道地區及南美洲西側海面溫度的改變,而觸發聖嬰的發生。由於海水的熱容量比空氣大,因此我們想以海洋觀點來說明另一種可能觸動聖嬰發生的動力,在生活經驗裡,我們發現水流通過障礙物會在後方形成渦流,因此,當南極繞極環流通過德瑞克通道受到南美洲南端阻礙時,有可能在南美洲形成週期性渦流生成及脫離的現象。「這樣的渦流是否存在?」、「渦流脫離後在南美洲左右岸海面溫度、高度是否發生變化?」、「此動力是否進而觸發聖嬰現象?」,是本研究期待以新思惟解釋引發這個全球現象的另一可能動力。
