日光燈下的二道彩虹

某次於學校的科學表演中,見到黑白陀螺在旋轉後會產生顏色的\r 變化,使人印象深刻。文獻上記載此類陀螺稱為“Prevost”圓盤,\r 其色彩產生的原因一般被認為是人眼產生之錯覺。不過究竟為何會有\r 這種錯覺,總令人相當納悶。於是我們請教了老師,不僅做了實驗,\r 也用像機拍攝下來分析,不過令我們感到奇怪的是:如果是眼睛產生\r 的錯覺,又為何能拍出顏色?甚至,在研究的過程中我們意外的觀察到鏤空圓盤內的色塊裡,\r 尚有像水波「波紋」般的條紋出現。這個現象十分奇特,於是我們設\r 計了一系列的實驗去探討這些現象,開始了這次的研究。在研究過程中我們遇到相當大的困難,所幸同伴的程式設計技術\r 卓越。為了實驗也撰寫了許多套色彩分析程式,使得實驗更能得心應\r 手。而我是負責實驗儀器的架設及實驗操作,希望能以分工合作的方\r 式,來完成這次的研究。

氣象因子對灰面鵟鷹過境遷徙之影響

本研究主要分析氣象因子對於灰面鵟鷹春季過境八卦山區之影響。分析1994年至2004年灰面鵟鷹遷徙資料發現彰化八卦山區之微氣象與灰面鵟鷹族群遷徙波動性具有顯著的相關性,其中以日平均氣壓、日平均相對濕度、日平均風速及日平均風向等氣象因子分別對起鷹、落鷹之族群數影響最為明顯。而其遷徙週期之動態變化,明顯地集中於約16日內完成主要族群之遷移。不論是同一年度內之高峰期變化,或是高峰期與日期契合之相關性,顯示氣象因子為其遷徙影響的重要因子。然而,從各年度間的遷徙高峰期間的相關性分析結果得知,目前11年過境調查紀錄,應該無明顯的規律性動態變化模式,考量其他對於遷徙過程可能具有影響的因子,應有其他的環境或生物因素影響遷徙期間族群的波動性及週期性。對於建立其遷徙模式而言,可能需要更多且更詳盡的遷徙紀錄,以及配合遷徙過程的各過境點的氣象或其他因素合併分析,方能獲得更為明確的結果。The main purpose of this study is to find the effects of the meteorological factors on the dynamics of the migrating population observed at the Pakuashan area in spring for the gray faced buzzard. The migrating population dynamics observed at the Pakuashan area correlated significantly with the local meteorological factors noted from 1994 to 2004. The daily average atmospheric pressure, average relative humidity, average wind speed and wind direction had significant impact on the soaring and landing populations of the gray faced buzzard. Obviously the annual migrating dynamics observed at the study site was accomplished within 16 days. In addition, the similar variation pattern of the peak migrating populations in the same year as well as the consistency of the date of the peak population observed annually supports the hypothesis that the local meteorological factors have a great impact on the migrating behavior of the populations. However, the correlation analysis of the peak migrating populations among years indicated that little cyclic migrating pattern was found in the past 11 years’ observation records. Other biotic or abiotic factors might have influence on the periodicity and fluctuation of the migrating populations. In order to establish a precise population model to describe the migrating behavior of the gray faced buzzard, detailed records of the migration process and the analyses of the relationships among the meteorological data as well as other factors and the bird populations observed should be gathered and performed.

應用電流探討比熱

上學期化學第十四章講到法拉第電解定律時,應用電池供給電流促使正負離子的流動,從析出的物質中,求得每個離子所帶之電量,這是由電的效應轉變成化學效應。而在電池內部。則由陰極與陽極之化學反應,而構成了電流效應,使我們知道了電能可以轉變成化學能,化學能亦可以轉變成電能。然而物理第十一章中亦講到能量不滅定理,且不同形式的能量,可以互換;第十二章即利用能量不滅測定比熱,但此為同一形式能量之互換(冷熱混合法),而且實驗時誤差頗大,操作不太方便,亦不能作一般廣泛之物質比熱測定,因此我們幾個同學在好奇心的驅使下,試圖尋求另一種不同形式能量混合來測出比熱,經過老師的指導,著手於電流實驗。由電熱線所發出的功率測出各種物質之比熱,經三個多月來的實驗及互相研究,已經測出了一般物質之比熱。我們覺得這種方法甚為方便,可以提供以後國中物理教材之研究及不同能量形式互換的明證,操作簡單,現象明顯,並能與日常生活的電器用品相驗證,使理論與實際互為輝映。

辣椒的抗氧化性及清除自由基效力之研究

去年科展「油脂的自氧化(Autoxidation)及抗氧化劑」,了解油脂的自氧化反應機制,涉及自由基反應,並由實驗知道辣椒是一種抗氧化劑;近來報章雜誌一再談到人體的病變、癌症、老化等均和人體組織內自由基過量有關,因此興起研究尋找抗氧化性較佳的天然食物,於日常中多食用,將可減少體內自由基的生長,達到預防保健的目的。

檢驗使用賀爾蒙什麼方法最便利?

由於運動員僅靠運動訓練往往無法突破一些生理的限制,使用荷爾蒙卻能促進運動能力,但這種非自然的方式,違背了運動競爭公平的原則。經常被使用的賀爾蒙為固醇性物質,像是雄性同化性類固醇、睪固酮等。因為固醇性物質它本身和其代謝物極容易在尿液中被發現,並且尿液檢驗對於選手和檢驗單位來講,都是一種相當便利的方法,若有特殊情況或需求,才會再進一步使用血液檢驗,而尿液檢驗經常會被使用在檢驗運動員是否有服用禁藥的情況,使得競賽能夠在公平的情況下來進行,因此,考慮到檢驗的準確和便利,最常見的檢驗方式是尿液檢驗,此題答案是尿液檢驗。

上樑不正下樑歪-脊椎側彎的探討

台灣大多數學校並無全面性脊椎側彎篩檢與追蹤的健康服務,因此學生脊椎側彎的問題都不易被發現。本研究的目的希望藉由長期的追蹤與鼓勵學生進行治療,以降低脊椎側彎的盛行率與側彎角度。台灣地區學齡兒童脊椎側彎的盛行率大約是3-3.5%,而本校脊椎側彎的盛行率大約在1%左右,而且女生明顯多於男生。根據篩檢發現本校脊椎側彎較易發生在BMI(Body Mass Index)值較低的學童身上,也就是說,瘦型體格罹患脊椎側彎的機會較高。脊椎側彎可以藉由簡單的目測及儀器測量實施篩檢,並配合醫師復健運動,可達預防與治療之效果。本校實施兩年即約有60%的成效。因此建議將脊椎側彎納入學校健康檢查的項目之一(包含國小五、六年級與國中階段)。 ;The scoliosis of school children cannot be discovered easily because the overall scoliosis screening and tracing are not provided in most schools in Taiwan. The main purpose of this study is to reduce the prevalence rate and the angle of scoliosis by proceeding scoliosis screening continuously, and encouraging the patients to take physical treatment at the same time. Compared with the scoliosis prevalence rate in Taiwan(3-3.5%), the rate in our school is about 1%. Furthermore, the girls with scoliosis are outnumber the boys with the disease. This study shows children with low BMI value will have higher probability to acquire scoliosis. In other words, thin children may fall victims of the disease more often. The scoliosis can be examined with some easy methods, such as unaided-eyes measuring or scoliosis detecting. Besides screening, hospital treatment can attain the effects of prevention and cure. For the first two years, the practice of scoliosis screening in our school can improve the disease obviously (about 60%). In conclusion, the study strongly suggests the scoliosis screening can be included into an item of health examination from the fifth graders to the ninth.

Keyboard for Blinds

The reason for making this project was with the intention to help the blind persons. A lot of people with vision problems don’t have the resources available to acquire equipment or programs that make it easier for them to use a computer to write, to communicate etc... Being aware of this problem we took the liberty of researching at a community center that helps the blind persons in Tijuana Baja California, Mexico. We found that they had a type writer (Perkins) with only 6 keys that symbolized Braille. They also had a normal keyboard that had the Braille code over each key, but it is complicated to learn because of its many keys. Due to our research our intention was to design a system that respect the Braille symbols of the Perkins type writer and translated them to the common alphabet. We believe that this project will help many people especially the blind, with writing books, letters, articles, etc. So they can be integrated to activities and jobs reserved, until now, for people with the sight sense. My project also has 8 keys, when the person press a key combination the PC emits the sound of the letter. And when a word is completed the PC reproduce the whole word on the speaker. When the entire paragraph is completed there is an option to reproduce it. It has also other functions as erase everything, back space, etc. All these with the 8 keys. To control the system I used the parallel port of a PC, with a control program made in Visual Basic. Currently there are systems for the blind but are very expensive, they have a cost of approximately $900.00 US dollars, which is a high price to pay for some people. My project has a cost of $70.00 US dollars thus making it easy for a person who has a computer to be able to buy this keyboard. This project is being use in the “Blind Persons Training Center” of Tijuana city. They helped us to develop it, giving some ideas to improve it.

「晶然成功」?錯鹽[Cu(NH3)4SO4‧H2O]晶體製備方法之探討

寶石,光彩炫麗的外表深深吸引著我們。而晶體也像寶石一樣晶瑩剔透,因此引發我們的濃厚興趣。於是請教老師,是否能靠簡單的化學實驗來製造出美麗的晶體。根據老師表示,在高中化學實驗中有一種錯鹽[Cu(NH3)4SO4‧H2O] 的製備實驗,過去以來總是無法得到較理想的晶體,因此老師建議我們可以用這實驗為基礎,找出適當的方法來得到更理想的結果。 於是,我們重複課本裡的實驗步驟,按照教材中的內容,一步一步確實的操作。然而結果所得到的,卻是一沱一沱有如爛泥的糊狀物,無法稱之為晶體,而且其中還雜存著不同的藍色物質。我們發現晶體養成,似乎不是那麼容易,因此我們決定找出課本中實驗步驟的缺失,並加以修正,而且還要想出更適當的方法,來得到晶體。

汽車自動雨刷

我們經過二個月的研究,獲得下列重要成果: 一、研發雨刷控制器,傳統雨刷需由駕駛人來操控,我們整合電子-機械控制的功能,當行車遇到下雨天時,控制器能提供電源操作雨刷的擺動,保持駕駛的最佳視線。 二、研發雨刷雨量感知器,如何偵測到雨量的大小及可擺設於汽車前擋風玻璃最佳位置,提升靈敏度,以增加實用性。
