Synthesis of functionalized mesoporous silica nanoparticles as drug delivery carriers for therapeutic agents

奈米藥物在臨床治療引入了重大創新。多孔性二氧化矽奈米粒子(mesoporous silica nanoparticle) 具有生物相容性和高孔隙度的特性,被運用在奈米藥物傳遞和標靶治療。奈米粒子經過表面修飾可提高藥物載荷效能以達到有效的治療。 本研究建立一項有效的奈米藥物傳遞載體的開發系統,目標在合成多孔性二氧化矽奈米粒子,使用幾丁聚糖對表面進行修飾,以提升地塞米松藥物載荷和穩定的藥物釋放。應用 X-射線繞射和傅立葉轉換紅外光譜來分析奈米粒子產物和表面官能基。應用分光光譜儀進行測定藥物的載荷和釋放速率。幾丁聚糖修飾包覆的多孔性二氧化矽奈米粒子具有 53.7%的藥物載荷率,比較未修飾的粒子只有 27.9%。藥物釋放實驗,幾丁聚糖包覆的二氧化矽奈米粒子可以延緩藥物釋放,在 5 天釋放 19.7%的地塞米松。本次研究說明幾丁聚糖包覆多孔性二氧化矽奈米粒子是有潛力的奈米藥物載體。

石墨烯-銀異質結構的優化與功能開發 The Optimization and Development of Graphene/Ag-doped heterostructure

從家用微波爐到3C產品,皆有微波電磁干擾 (Microwave Electromagnetic Interference, MWEMI)的防蔽設計需求。依據2020年科展競賽作品中的薄層微量雙金屬催化技術可製得 Graphene/Ag-doped異質結構,但該作品未曾研究此材料的防蔽 EMI 能力。本研究優化此技術,成功將銀奈米結構沉積在石墨烯的缺陷及晶界邊緣,相關技術與實驗參數(化學氣相沉積法的加熱溫度、時長和通氣量)已發表於2023年科展競賽作品。本研究進階發現 Graphene/Ag-doped異質結構具高透明度和屏蔽 MWEMI 的能力,單層膜可屏蔽60%之 MWEMI,效能優於文獻上記載的2~3層石墨烯。而依據2023年文獻說明單層奈米碳管 (MWCNTs)異質結構經氟化處理後,可大幅提升 MWEMI 屏蔽效能,因此我們也將 Graphene/Ag-doped材料經由四氟化碳電漿處理,氟化後的屏蔽效能又比單層石墨烯-銀高出15倍,可遮蔽高達99.9%的 MWEMI。

Non-invasive study of the electrical activity of the brain of various chordate animals

In clinical practice, EEG is used to diagnose a number of neurological diseases and to diagnose epilepsy. But at present, the question of the nature of EEG has not been completely resolved and is of great scientific interest. There have been no studies at all on the non-invasive study of the electrical activity of the brain of the shark superorder, which belongs to the class of cartilaginous fish. By studying the electrical activity of the brain of various gnathostomes, it is possible to obtain an answer to the question of the emergence of rhythms from the point of view of phylogenesis and evolution, and by comparing their EEG with the human EEG, one can identify similar patterns that help in the study of reactions to various influences. During the work, for the first time, EEG indicators of spotted cat sharks, ECG, heart rate and respiratory rate of cat sharks and toads were obtained. In the future, it is planned to assemble a smaller neuroheadset for non-invasive studies of the electrical activity of the brain of small animals (sharks, toads, monitor lizards). This data can be used for evolutionary and medical research. *No animals were harmed during or after the experiments.

運用細胞水膠化技術製作微流道晶片進行抗原專一性T細胞之篩選 Flow-induced Mechanical Screening of Antigen Specific T cells with Biomimetic Microfluidic Chip

積極發展癌症相關治療策略極為重要,其中T細胞免疫療法(adaptive T cell therapy)是一深具臨床價值的選項。即是將T細胞自體內取出後並增殖到一定數量,而後將其回輸病人體內使得T細胞攻擊癌細胞。此方式關鍵的步驟在於必須要能夠篩選出足量的抗原專一性T細胞。現行主要的篩選方法雖然方便,但會誤捕不相關抗原專一性T細胞,降低治療效率。為解決此問題,本研究將利用水膠細胞技術,運用其完整保存生物膜的特性,模仿細胞膜之免疫突觸現象,搭配微流控晶片可控制流速改變沖刷力的特性,成功開發一可篩選親和力較高之T細胞微流道晶片。已在晶片內建立可置換任意抗原之水膠細胞單層,並以SIINFEKEL抗原作為模擬,達到極高之置換率。預期能在未來的研究中提升篩選專一性與數量,進而提升其臨床價值。

大生熊蟲自體螢光於檢測蔬菜硝酸鹽之應用與螢光機制探討 Application and Mechanism of Tardigrade Macobiotus Autofluorescence in the Detection of Vegetable Nitrates

利用鏡檢大生熊蟲形態檢測蔬菜中硝酸鹽壓力,常有形態判別問題,本研究想利用其自體螢光開發新型檢測模式,利用硝酸鹽壓力下其活動與隱生比例差異與自體螢光強度關係,檢測硝酸鹽濃度。顯示其自體螢光最佳激發波長為488 nm,製作檢量線(R2=0.99)與自製裝置使用470nm波長激發以壓克力濾光(R2=0.97)可檢測0〜156 mg/L硝酸鹽,可改善鏡檢缺點,並嘗試應用,發現蔬菜硝酸鹽 (小白菜492mg/L),超出其自體螢光檢測極限,且蔬菜萃取液會影響大生熊蟲自體螢光,目前能進行定性分析,後續將分析蔬菜中造成干擾物質,繼續評估其應用性。探討其螢光機制,利用組織切片,探討大生熊蟲自體螢光強度與表皮層厚度在隱生和活動狀態下,是否具有相關性,發現脫水樣本自體螢光強度與螢光面積較活動樣本無差異(p>0.05),推測自體螢光強度會受到其隱生時體表收縮程度有關。

獵物狀態對蜈蚣捕食行為的影響

覓食對動物來說是至關重要的行為,而最佳覓食理論可解釋單獨覓食策略,其模型可計算獵物的獲益能力。前人研究蜈蚣捕食行為概分三部分:蜈蚣捕食行為順序、毒液作用效率、獵物密度對其捕食方式的影響。然而皆無討論蜈蚣依靠何種感官捕食、攻擊不同部位之優劣、獵物型質對蜈蚣捕食時間的影響,本研究以少棘蜈蚣、杜比亞和紅蟑為實驗物種,透過型質測量和捕食紀錄探討以上三點。結果顯示蜈蚣捕食獵物主要依靠觸覺且攻擊獵物腹面較優勢;紅蟑型質改變使蜈蚣搜索及處理時間有顯著不同,杜比亞差異卻不明顯;用最佳飲食模型算出杜比亞的獲益能力顯著高於紅蟑,故蜈蚣捕食杜比亞這類獵物能獲得更多好處。本研究可為蜈蚣的行為生態提供進一步的參考資料。

Detection of Calcium Oxalate in Nephrolithiasis Using Ca-D

Nephrolithiasis isacommondiseasewherestoneisfoundinthe kidney. Kidney stones areharddepositsmadeofmineralsandsalts that form inside your kidneys. Urine has various wastes dissolved in it. When there is too much waste in too little liquid, crystals begin to form. Sometimes, tiny stones move out ofthebodyinthe urine without causingtoomuchpainanditcontainscalciumoxide. But stones that don't move may cause a back-up of urine in the kidney, ureter, the bladder, or the urethra. Therefore, Ca-d is used as an effective and affordable alternative device to check kidney stones. A new detector we can operate as an indicator for people who have high calcium oxalate levels in their urine. Which will help us to check calcium oxalate levels easily and practically with the use of tds (PPM as its unit). It can check whether people have high PPM levels that can cause issues like nephrolithiasis. It can also be used regularly so that people can avoid the disease by consistently checking their urine with Ca-d.

Throughout our generations, a traditional system has been implemented for registering student attendance, in which the teacher is responsible for carrying out said activity, investing an average time of 15 to 20 minutes, which are part of the time of class. The objective of this project is to optimize this process, thus achieving effective class times, promoting the use of digital tools and innovation in teaching practice, in addition to generating security and confidence in tutors through the use of a service of message, which will notify the student's attendance in real time. Through a survey of the teaching staff of the CONALEP 338 Córdoba campus, it was detected that each teacher has academic loads equivalent to 3 to 5 modules per day, with an average of more than 40 students assigned to each module. Based on this information, the use of technological tools will be promoted and this process of teaching practice will be innovated with zero costs.

First-Ever Study on Groundwater Discharge Zones in Tumon Bay, a Protected Marine Preserve: Novel Insights into Coral Reef Conservation

Current research shows Northern Guam to be composed of porous limestone bedrock which allow groundwater to flow out. One large discharge point has already been identified last year in north-western Guam at Ayuyu Cave. However, little is known about Tumon Bay which is known to comprise karst watersheds which should allow for SGD. This project has examined invisible groundwater discharge using a salinity meter and was able to detect two areas of concentrated freshwater discharges in Tumon Bay, with a few minor ones scattered throughout the bay. These seeps were found to have consistently lower salinity while pH varied, and hosted more marine life than other high salinity areas. Further unique coral growth in Tumon Bay’s inner lagoon was associated with these two freshwater discharges with the pH levels further segregating the types of coral species found during on-site observation. Two coral communities, staghorn Acropora and massive Porites, were found adjacent to the surveyed groundwater seeps. It’s inferred that lower wave energy in eastern Tumon Bay allows for greater plankton and other microbial growth leading to more heterotrophic coral growth, favoring Porites corals, while Western Tumon Bay has higher wave energy which leads to the growth of more autotrophic corals, such as the Acropora found in the first area surveyed. This is the first study to document the presence, location, and consequences of invisible freshwater discharges across the billion-dollar bay. This study gauges the effects of SGD on inner shore habitats, also providing a coral cover assessment across Tumon Bay using transects and quadrats. These discoveries allow for strategic coral planting, designated areas needing government protection, and show areas of appealing inner lagoon coral growth for tourism.

Evaluation of the Effect of Different Nutrients' Concentration and Composition on Hydroponically Grown Plant

As the world population grows, the demand of food products grows as well and there will be an expected food crisis in the coming years. To prevent those crises, alternative food farming methods must be used. This paper studied two farming systems in different conditions, to compare and find the best, natural and cost-effective system that will cover the current and future demand. The system which can also be used in those areas where soil is less cultivated with insufficient aeration. The first system is the soil-based system (traditional), and the other is hydroponic system. Hydroponic is a technique of growing plants in nutrient solutions with or without the use of an inert medium. Two types of seeds; peas and spinach were observed in both systems over a period of 25 days. In hydroponic plants coco peat was used in place of soil along with the Aegis nutrient. 8 plants were seeded for both types of plants in different systems, conditions, concentrations and pH to conclude the best condition. Growth parameters of all plants including root, shoot and leaf length were observed and recorded daily. On the uprooting, their weight (g), no. of root hairs and used nutrient’s volume(ml) were also recorded. Fungus and insects were seen in the soil plants. The results executed that the growth was maximum in spinach having normal manufacturer nutrient’s spray concentration(1.25ml/625ml) with pH 6 and in peas having normal supplier concentration (5ml/625ml) with pH 4. So, it can be concluded that hydroponic spinach, which is a green leafy plant, can ideally grow at the pH of 6 and peas in slightly acidic condition. Hydroponic planting system has a better growth effect than traditional soil system and this system don’t need any fertilizer, insecticide, pesticide, fungicide and herbicide. While soil plants’ growth was adversely affected by fungus and insects in the absence of these chemicals which can contaminate our food and make it less hygienic for our health. This result achieves the aim of this paper which is finding a planting system and its conditions that can increase the productivity to cover the food demand.
